At the Mountain Sun and Southern Sun, our mission is to offer five-star service, fresh, high quality pub fare and finely crafted brews for affordable prices in an environment that’s comfortable like your living room. There will never be televisions at our pubs because we want our guests to meet and discuss the world in which we live or simply to play Scrabble.

We believe our approach to the service industry is unique and worth noticing. Your server today may be cooking your food tomorrow, or even managing. Every employee does every job here.

The Mountain Sun first opened its doors in October of 1993. As corporations and concept restaurants swamped downtown Boulder, we realized our town needed a community-based neighborhood pub. For inspiration and our first brewer, we looked to the thriving pub and micro-brew scene of Oregon. Nine years later, it was clear that one Mountain Sun was not enough for Boulder, so we opened the Southern Sun in south Boulder in September of 2002. Holding to the same mission as the Mountain Sun, the Southern Sun is a larger version of the original pub.

Our beers have won medals across the globe, including six gold medals at the Great American Beer Festival in Denver, the world’s largest beer festival. And over the years, our brew pubs have consistently been voted the best in Boulder in the local media.

Live Music

We are proud to host local and national music acts on Sundays at the Mountain Sun and Mondays at the Southern Sun. All shows start at 10 pm, and there’s never a cover!
